Eurokomisařka chce použít veřejné peníze na propagaci Lisabonské smlouvy v Irsku

Komisařka Evropské unie pro propagandu (pardon, pro komunikaci), Margot Wallströmová, prohlásila na Výboru pro ústavní záležitosti Evropského parlamentu, že s ohledem na irské odmítnutí Lisabonské smlouvy (která snižuje váhu malých států a přenáší pravomoci na EU) v referendu je potřeba napříště rozjet intenzivnější kampaň ze strany EU.
Stručné shrnutí projevu eurokomisařky:
Kampaň před irským referendem umožnila odpůrcům smlouvy volně vyjadřovat své argumenty proti smlouvě. Berme irský výsledek jen jako jednu reakci, nikoliv jako rozhodnutí. Musíme dát do kupy peníze daňových poplatníků, něco od irské vlády, něco z EU a udělat masivní kampaň, která přesvědčí voliče, aby hlasovali pro smlouvu. Eurokomisařka to nazývá „efektivní komunikací“ a označuje to za Demokracii á la EU.

Taxation, Irish neutrality, abortion, gay marriage and euthanasia dominated the campaign even if these issues - certainly important per se - were not directly related to the Treaty. We must not forget that today, 24 Member States have completed political approval for the Treaty. By the end of the year, this figure is likely to rise to 26...The sovereign and democratic choice of 24 Member States can not be dismissed as irrelevant....
...Unless we pool our resources and work together on this, we will see in the future more surveys showing that people do not have enough information to make fair and objective judgements about the EU's decisions...Effective communication, I believe, plays a central part in the EU democracy....

Přání na závěr:
Doufám, že český parlament Lisabonskou smlouvu odmítne i přes tlak premiéra Topolánka a vicepremiéra Vondry, a že v tom Iry nenecháme samotné. Naději máme v Senátu, kde se snad nenajde ústavní většina pro smlouvu.
